Nature's Grandchildren


Rabindranath believes that the inevitable ecological alienation involved in metropolitan life cripples our cognition profoundly, leaving humanity in a condition of an ultimately destructive spiritual destitution. Intimacy with the natural world from a formative age is the only way to restore humanity to spiritual and ecological health. This, to him, is the core of his practical religion as well as his pedagogy.

Air pollution in Delhi: Interview with Jim Boyce

According to recent reports in the press, an estimated 80 people a day die prematurely in Delhi on account of the rapidly deteriorating quality of the city's air. Here is a 15-minute interview with Environmental Economist Jim Boyce which sums up the situation. Jim spent four months in Delhi earlier this year:

How to clean Delhi's air

My Phd thesis advisor from the US, Jim Boyce, has been here in Delhi since January. He has been researching air pollution and climate change for the past some years. He was shocked at the rapid worsening of air pollution in Delhi since he was here last, many years back. He proposed that we do some research and write a piece together whereby we make some concrete suggestions to the new government in Delhi - hoping like hell that they just might listen!
